ICE OUT ON PARTS OF GREAT EAST LAKE!

Here are some pictures of this weekend's ice out in South Cove, taken by Linda Schier.

<= The kids in the kayaks are Luci, Eric and Josh from the Lake Management class at UNH. They are doing the Lake Inventory and Lake Management Plan for Great East and had a lovely day on the lake on Friday, April 16.

The pictures with the ice are from Saturday. The ice blew  in and rode up on our shore. Chuck and Lennie McKinley and my husband, John are in the picture trying to break up the ice before it hit their dock. The dock did sustain some damage as did ours.                                                         =>

<= When we woke up this morning the ice was gone except for a small piece right in South Cove. That was gone by the afternoon. I'm not sure if the Narrows and the Basins are ice free yet or not. They still had quite a bit on Friday.

<= The picture of the birds is a pair of Common Mergansers. We also saw and heard a big loon in South Cove. The temp was in the 60's and no black flies yet!
